The back heel plate features a delicate wave pattern, while the forward bottom of the foot will leave behind a sort of radiation style sign when walking where an impression made be made upon a surface. These kinds of Japanese shoes are ideal for houmongi, furisode, tomesode, and other semi-formal to formal kimono styles. These zori are typically worn by women. When worn some of the heel should hang off the back of the shoe, and the toes should hang over the sides slightly. Tabi socks are always worn with zori.
