This antique chabako 茶箱 came to us straight from Japan. A chabako is a box used to pack goods for Japanese tea ceremony (chanoyu) for travel. These kinds of boxes are ideal for displaying collections of Japanese tea ceremony utensils as well. This box is made of a dark wood, and features a small metal pull handle to remove the front panel. The box comes with shelves, and a bamboo hishaku (ladle) as well.

Condition: B, typical dirt from advanced age
