Mokume shibori is a Japanese stitch resist technique that pairs beautifully with natural Indigo dyeing. In this workshop, you will work with organic Indigo dye vats, gentle fibers, and Mokume technique to create a unique handmade fiber art piece. We recently got in a section of stunning Taisho era michiyuki. These silk coats pre-date ww2 in most cases, and are almost all hand sewn. Taisho era wafuku is especially prized for the quality of the fabric, and the longer sleeve lengths. Imagine our surprise, when we checked one of the pockets of a coat only to discover money! Over the years we have checked the pockets of many michiyuki and continue to be surprised at the discoveries we make.
