This past weekend we were excited to once more take part in the Japanese Summer Festival hosted once a year at the Anderson Japanese Gardens in Rockford, Illinois. Every July this festival offers a selection of transnational Japanese entertainment including the likes of taiko, koto, awa odori, calligraphy, and more. If you ever have a chance to attend this event, we highly recommend it and feel that this Festival is largely an unknown gem tucked away in a world renown Japanes
We are excited to return to Chicago, Illinois this weekend and are a part of the first ever Chicago Matsuri! This two day outdoor festival will celebrate Japanese culture through a variety of engagements such as food, performances, and of course SHOPPING! If you have never been to Chicago it is wonderful city to visit, and offers a great multicultural community. There is even a planned J-Fashion meetup at the festival!

We walked the garden today once we finished setting up. I took this photo today during that walk, I can not express enough how lovely the Andersen Japanese Garden is. Located in Rockford, IL the festival is only a few hours away from most people if not closer for those living in the Chicago area.
