We recently added a new katsura wig to our online kimono store! This wig is interesting, as most people are use to seeing only the bridal ones. This katsura wig is in the style of Yuiwata, which is most commonly today worn by maiko. This style was also popular among trendy young women in the Edo period. Maiko are apprentice Geisha. Japanese kimono are rich in symbolism and almost every decoration on them has a meaning. The Asanoha design is a prevalent and common theme found in various Japanese arts. What does this design represent? The Asanoha design is the Japanese hemp leaf design. The pattern is generally geometric. T
