Happy Halloween! Although Halloween is mostly celebrated in America, there are scattered places in Japan that observe it too. One of our long time customers Devin decided to add their own Halloween spin to their kimono and created this wonderful Poison Ivy Kimono cordidation for Halloween. We simply love this look. The kimono came from us, and we are so happy to see the kimono given such a magnificent twist on a classic look. The Ivy kanzashi with bira bira, and the coordinat
It is increasingly popular to head canon cross your favorite fandoms with each other. You know stuff like Rick and Morty meets My Little Ponies, Harry Potter and the Legend Of Sleepyhallow, Disney Princesses in various Star Wars roles, and so on. Recently we stumbled onto a mash up that we had to share! Japanese Artist Hikaru Yagi has produced a beautiful art series in which they took characters from the Game Of Thrones series and dressed them in traditional Japanese kimono.
Thanks for a fun Tekko 2018! We had a great time checking out cosplayers, and meeting new customers. The show was slow enough that we were able to dedicate a lot of 1 on 1 time to helping out everyone with their kitsuke questions and needs. Over the weekend we took a few photos of our customers, and of various cosplayers who visited our booth. Check out this gallery of photos to get a small sample of Tekko! #Tekko #Tekko2018 #Kimono #JapaneseKimono #Kitsuke #Kitsune #KimonoC
In the past few years we have noticed a really cool trend - creating kimono coordinations around various super heroes, villains, and animated characters in general. People are dreaming up really unique approaches to Japanese kimono. Over time we have seen sets that include various Disney Princesses including Ariel, and even most recently ....this diy Harley Quinn kitsuke!

We recently received a really cool email and several photos from a customer of ours, and we wanted to share it with you all. "Good Morning, Ohio Kimono! Thank you so much for the wonderful garments and accessories you sent to me recently. I made a kimono for a runway show, and the orange juban, the navy geta and the white tabi socks set it off perfectly. My kimono was designed for a show that featured garments made with recycled materials. I made mine with my old paint pants,

As our online kimono store has grown and we take on more shows to sell at, we are struggling to find a rhythm for shipping our online kimono orders. All too often we were unable to ship on a Monday, Saturday, or Friday due to being at shows. For us shipping was increasingly becoming ch

Japanese kimono are rich in symbolism and almost every decoration on them has a meaning. The Asanoha design is a prevalent and common theme found in various Japanese arts. Over the years we have sold kimono, obi, haori, juban, tabi socks, obi makura, and more with the Asanoha design on them. This design looks like the 6 point star or geometric flower.
What does this design represent? The Asanoha design is the Japanese hemp leaf design. The pattern is generally geometric. T

The second day of the Japanese Summer Festival in the Anderson Japanese Gardens was a success and truly a high class affair. This event we consider the single most elegant event we attend all year. It was a pleasure to be able to talk to so many customers, new and old. At this festival a wide variety of kimono could be see being worn, from the yukata to formals for Japanese theater. Though we did not get many photos of people wearing real kimono, they were highly common at th
